APS or SRP? In the Valley, your address decides

Arizona Public Service and Salt River Project both serve metro Phoenix, not as competitors you choose between, but as neighboring territories drawn long before the suburbs filled in. Across the tens of thousands of Valley addresses we've checked, APS leads overall, with SRP holding large parts of Mesa, Tempe, Chandler and east Phoenix. Two houses a block apart can be on different utilities.

Outside the Valley, Tucson Electric Power serves Tucson, and Southwest Gas is the gas answer nearly statewide. Water stays local: Phoenix, Mesa, Tucson, Gilbert and most other cities run their own water departments.

Arizona utility questions, answered

Is my Phoenix home APS or SRP?

It depends on your exact address. Both utilities serve interleaved territories across metro Phoenix, and neither city nor ZIP code settles it reliably. Run the address lookup to get your answer with sign-up links.

Who provides natural gas in Arizona?

Southwest Gas serves the overwhelming majority of Arizona addresses we've checked, from Phoenix to Tucson. A few areas are served by UniSource Energy Services instead.

Can I choose my electricity provider in Arizona?

No. Arizona is a regulated market. The utility that serves your address (APS, SRP, TEP or a co-op) is your only option, so the real question is which one holds your address.
