Rocky Mountain Power's reach, and Provo's own utility
Rocky Mountain Power (part of the PacifiCorp family) delivered electricity at sampled addresses across Salt Lake City, West Valley City, West Jordan, Orem, Sandy, Ogden and St. George. Essentially the entire Wasatch Front and southern Utah corridor we've checked. Provo, home to Brigham Young University, is the one exception: it runs Provo City Power, its own municipal electric utility, rather than buying from Rocky Mountain Power.
Utah doesn't run a retail electricity market, so there's no supplier to shop for. Whichever utility holds your address delivers the power directly. Salt Lake City is the one city in our sample with confident water data, through the Salt Lake City Water System; other cities' water setups vary by address and aren't yet confidently sampled.

Why does Provo have its own electric utility?
Provo runs Provo City Power, a city-owned electric utility, rather than buying power from Rocky Mountain Power. The one genuine exception among the cities we've sampled along Utah's Wasatch Front.
Does Utah have retail electric choice?
No. Utah doesn't run a deregulated electricity market. Whichever utility holds your address, Rocky Mountain Power or Provo City Power, is who you sign up with directly, with no competing supplier to shop for.
