I’m a big fan of the original CRKT Eat’N Tool and it’s had a permanent residence in my go bag for years. The combination of useful tools and an eating utensil makes it extremely practical. However, I will admit, its size can make using the tools and eating with it awkward.
Consider the Eat’N Tool XL the grownup version. At 6.13″ of overall length, it’s substantially larger than its predecessor giving you much more leverage and it won’t feel like you’re eating from a baby spoon.
It has the same great features as the original but with a few tweaks here and there. The spork is big and deep so it actually holds more than a thimble’s worth of food or liquid. The bottle opener is redesigned and a GI-style can opener is added.
Tool wise, it has a flat blade screwdriver and a set of 6mm, 8mm, and 10mm wrenches, which should work in a pinch. Also included is a small carabiner so you can easily attach it to your gear or pack.
The CRKT Eat’N Tool XL is made from 3CR13 stainless steel and is available in a bead blasted or matte black finish.
Overall, it’s a useful and lightweight multitool that will compliment your camping and hiking gear well. And, with a price tag of $15, it might be worth buying a few to have around just in case.
